Haven: Position/Suspended/Ashna Mostafavi

The “Haven” project is an experience portraying twelve days of life in a suspended time, an endeavor to create “temporary stability” amidst chaos; as if time itself is experienced differently there. “Haven” becomes a platform for values that can render war meaningless: building a temporary café within the ruins and setting up a negotiation table with the “lords of war.” This “imaginary dialogue” symbolizes a refusal to accept the status quo, an internal protest, and an effort to preserve life against the madness of war: You destroy, we build and live, and we even engage in dialogue with you, albeit an imaginary one.
